GMA was contracted to provide the external team leader for this Appraisal. The programme focuses on state institution building, human rights (including the women and child rights, child soldiers, gender-based violence and female genital mutilation, and the rights of internally displaced persons), and private sector development.

GMA was contracted to provide a Team Leader / Judicial Reform Expert, Organisational Development Specialist, and Civic Education Specialist to assist the Judicial Service of Ghana to implement their aspects of the Right to Services and Good Governance Programme. Included development of a three-year civic education / communication strategy, anti-corruption strategy for the Judiciary, management training, support to development of Gender-Based Violence Courts, activities to reduce the number of awaiting trial prisoners and speed up criminal and civil trials, and enhanced monitoring and evaluation.

GMA provided the senior international Justice Sector. The MTR focused only on Component 1.2 (Judicial Service) where support focused on judicial reform, alternative dispute resolution, Gender-Based Violence Courts, outreach activities, activities to reduce the number of awaiting trial prisoners and speed up criminal and civil trials, and enhanced monitoring and evaluation.

GMA provided the sole national consultant and quality assurance over the course of the evaluation.

GMA provided a senior international expert to develop a training programme and train Public Service Commission Investigators on the Promotion of Administrative Justice Act.

GMA provided the plain language author and editor to produce a plain language publication on the Promotion of Administrative Justice Act PAJA.

In partnership with PEMconsult, GMA provided the team leader and national consultant to conduct this evaluation. The DGF is a multi-donor supported fund (Austria, Denmark, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, the UK and the EU) for civil society organisations, government departments and national institutions.

GMA provided the senior international expert to design and conduct a national perception study on CHRAJ’s performance over the previous 10 years.

GMA developed training programmes and materials to train the Zambian Government’s Governance Secretariat – responsible for implementing Danida’s Phase II of the Danish Support to Governance in Zambia – on economic governance, human rights, democracy and access to justice. 

GMA was awarded a framework contract to train all of the Public Protector’s Investigators on the impact of the Promotion of Administrative Justice Act on their investigations.

GMA provided the senior international expert and national consultant to conduct an impact assessment of training provided to members of criminal justice institutions under the programme.

GMA was awarded a framework contract to provide a technical adviser to assist in the implementation of the Programme, including the development and conducting of a training programme for Public Protector managers and investigators on the application of the Promotion of Administrative Justice Act; and to the Public Protector for the establishment of the African Ombudsman Research Centre.

GMA provided the senior international expert to conduct a Capacity assessment and learning needs analysis for the Zambian Governance Secretariat responsible for implementing Danida’s Phase II of the Danish Support to Governance in Zambia

GMA was contracted to plain language edit a series of ‘How To’ notes aimed at implementers of Danish supported projects and covering informal justice; justice sector reform; Parliaments; political parties; indigenous peoples; and the media and freedom of expression.

GMA provided the external team leader / senior international human rights and access to justice expert and the national consultant to assist the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to conduct the mid-term review.

GMA provided the team leader for an evaluation of the BCHI, made up of 16 case handling bodies including the Office of the Ombudsman, Human Rights Commission, Electoral Commission, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Prison’s Service Commission and National Compensation Tribunal.

GMA provided the lead trainer / senior international expert to revise a previously developed training programme and provide a refresher training of trainers course for trainers of Local Court Clerks and Messengers in Zambia.
