Senior International Governance Consultant
Greg is a fully qualified advocate (barrister), although no longer practising, with a post-graduate degree in law. He is a senior international consultant with more than 30 years’ experience in a broad range of access to justice, rule of law, governance, anti-corruption, human rights, public finance management, civic education, accountability, safety and security, gender and related issues in Africa and Asia. His career includes senior Prosecutor in 1985 – 9, through qualification as an advocate in 1989, working for a paralegal training NGO in KwaZulu Natal South Africa, the South African Constitutional Assembly and the South African Human Rights Commission. He has more than 18 years’ experience as a senior international consultant specialising in mid-term reviews, final evaluations, project identification and formulation, organisational development, capacity building, training and technical assistance (most as team leader) for various international development partners including Sida, Danida, Danish Institute for Human Rights, EU, UN, DfID, SECO and GIZ.
Greg is also one of NIRAS International Consulting’s pre-selected senior evaluators under a framework contract with Sida. And he has also designed and conducted baseline studies on human rights, access to justice, women’s and child rights, the rights of indigenous peoples etc. in Malawi, Ghana, Uganda and Bangladesh and was a technical adviser to the Namibian process to conduct a baseline study on human rights to feed into that countries National Human Rights Action Plan.
